Churches and community organizations joined together to offer the Walking Tour as a “Granville Christmas gift to families.”
A Granville Tradition Since 1984
Created in 1984, the Christmas Candlelight Walking Tour is an important tradition that has grown and provided joy for attendees since its beginning.
The event started off with all focus being pointed towards Granville’s church programs being hosted by Centenary United Methodist, United Church, First Presbyterian, and St. Luke’s Episcopal. These churches presented their annual Christmas programs during the event, including bell choirs, nativity pageants, and singing from the children’s choirs. Deemed “Granville’s Gift Back to The Families,” the event is hosted by the Granville Area Chamber and provides a pleasant and nostalgic sight. Main, Broadway, and Prospect St. are bedazzled with decorative trees, warm glows coming from nearby shops, and an all-around cheery atmosphere welcomes in the holiday season.
